Our service is how our community knows. What we do for others and how we make people is how we are known in the community. We need to serve so that we live out our purpose in our community. Think about what you do for the community that surrounds us. Not all of us are going to be the shining star that everyone knows. It will not be about doing something that is grand it is about being helpful. Service is about doing what we do for others because it makes us feel alive. I knew someone whose service was giving blood. He didn’t work at the Red Cross or Blood Services. He went every six weeks to donate blood. He didn’t advocate that we all should give blood in the same way he did. I asked about it because while at work I noticed the pattern of the “I gave blood” sticker appear. When asked about the sticker his face lit up as explained how it made him feel to be able to give a pint of blood every six weeks. We all can give something that makes us come alive when we do it.
