Israel warned civilians of a strike and ordered them to evacuate parts of Rafah as they began to hit known militant targets. The Israeli government acknowledged they received and were reviewing a ceasefire proposal. Israel also states There big holes in the proposal that could keep a ceasefire from happening. One example is any agreement that would place a “permanent peace” between Israel and Palestine.

October 7 2023 is just one of many occurrences that has happened over many decades of tension between the governments is the region. While Israel was recognized as a Jewish State shortly after World War II it was not created just as an answer to the Holocaust. In fact, the Jewish migration from Europe to Palestine started near the beginning of the 20th Century and was discouraged by many European countries. Palestine at the time was under the control of the British Empire but was not promoted as the Jewish State. In 1917 a modern Zionist movement formed militias and began striking Arab targets to create more Jewish settlements. The idea was to recreate Judah of ancient times claiming that God gave them the right to the land.

The Holocaust began and many European Jews needed a safe haven and fled to Palestine creating land problems that could have been settled through peace means the Zionists pushed forward with campaigns and claims to the land. At the end of the World War the Concentration Camps were emptied and the Nazis were placed on trial for war crimes like the attempt at genocide. The campaigns to create a totally Jewish state took hold and Israel was formally creating the tensions didn’t end and the peace was not created. Over the decades fighting continued and ceasefires were found.

In the 1970’s Egypt worked with Israel and Palestine to create a peaceful agreement that would be good for the entire region. While hard work was put into the negotiations it all ended with violence and the creation of the myth that the US could hold the keys to ending the tension between the people. Nothing could be more untrue. The real problem is the Zionists and the Muslim Extremists who are not willing to bend and follow a path towards peace. So today we have the fight and hostage-taking we saw on October 7 2023. We should be supporting the people who do want peace those who want to enjoy their neighbors and who believe the Jews Muslims and Christians are all brothers in faith and tied to the land. According to the shared scripture, they are all the sons and daughters of Abraham.
