How many times have we all gone into work sick? We did because of dedication, to prove we are deserving of more time or a raise from the boss, or simply because we just could not afford to lose a days wage. In this day and age employers do not pay us if we call in sick. We get penalized for not feeling well enough to work. In a time when so many live paycheque to paycheque there is a real fear that we will not be able to pay the rent if a day of work is missed. do, off we go to work with the flu or some other contagious virus. No one ever thought that a virus like COVID19 would come along.
COVID19 as us staying apart from one another and has actually locked many of us out of our workplace. Many businesses around the world have been ordered shut by the government and the same governments have order citizen stay at home. The flu is contagious but many of us would recover in about a week from symptoms. COVID19 is overwhelming health care system with extreme conditions that need not only medical help but also need things like ventilators and breathing devices to keep people alive while we recover from the virus. COVID19 is leaving behind damaged organs and devastated immune systems in the people it has infected. Also, unlike the Flu there is a question if human immune systems can build the right antibodies to fight of reinfections of the same virus. Leave many health officials saying “if you are sick stay home.”
Easy for health officials to say stay home. These same people get paid lots of many to run these government offices their bills are getting paid. Government employees have tons of sick time so they can stay home when they get sick. The question now how can government fix this problem so when we get sick we can call out from work and take time off the heal and get better with infecting all of our coworkers. Should the government force employers to pay out the sick time or should the government create a fund that will help us financially when we miss a few days of work.
