There is nothing more precious than our children. Our children are the future hope and desires for the human species. One of the reasons we may not have seen a large number of infections so in the under 10 age group is because we have kept them separated from the rest of the world. They have been inside and away from where the COVID-19 is thriving. While we may not have absolute evidence of this it still remains that our children have spent the summer very distant from each other and those who could infect them. It is now time for them to go back to school and enter the world. With COVID-19 waiting to infect our schools, what can really be done to keep those precious generations safe from harm?
The UN and WHO have come up with some advice based on statistics and medical research and the following 5 things become very important.
Controlling Transmission: Keeping the number of new cases down. Our health officials around the world have been monitoring the rate of infection. Some countries have come up with a traffic light system for gaging safety level do to the number of infection that are active and if they can be traced back to central source or event. Red light is a true and clear danger zone or time to lock everything down. You can help health officials keep track of the number of infections near your home. monitoring where you go and keep the number of your physical contacts low. We live in a society that loves to eat out, leave your contact information behind at events and restaurants. If an infection appears from a gathering it makes easy for the Health people to find you so they can deliver important information. This will help break the line of transmission and keep the virus from living in our community.
Physical Distancing: Keep 2meters apart or in more practical terms keep two arm lengths away from each other. Staying out of gatherings of more than 50 people.
Mask: wear a face cover when we are in public spaces. This keeps your droplet cloud to you and away from others.
Hand Washing: This simple act keeps the virus from getting inside our bodies. Statically most infectious diseases are picked up for non-organic surfaces such as a countertop or bookshelf. A can of food purchased from a store could enter our home with the virus on the surface but rinse it with soap and water the germ is removed. The same with our hands.
Testing and monitoring: know what the symptoms are for the virus and get tested if you think you have them.
When health officials know that infections are under control school can be open with the proper tools to maintain social distancing and hygiene. These two things are going to be very important to keep our children safe from COVID-19. Announced today Justin Trudeau is funding to help schools open up with these tools in place. Will 2Billion dollars two weeks before school is supposed to open be enough? What are the conditions behind the use of funding? Justin Trudeau states the money is there to help the schools and the reason the fund are so late in coming is that he wanted the Provinces to figure things out first as stated in the constitution.
