First, let’s be really honest about racism it is a matter perception. This is what it means if you are the one being discriminated against it very a really and truly does exist. There things like quotas and attitudes “look I hire that guy and he is one of them.” “Them” equals he was comes from a disadvantaged race so I threw him some crumbs. If you are the one who is being profiled by the police or some authority then you understand that there is racism in our social systems. When you are part of the people being suppressed by racism in our system it is clear that you have to walk a little softer, work harder to achieve, and be a little more careful not to be attacked.
Imagine hearing a whisper “the only reason he got his degree is because my tax dollars paid for it” meaning that he was never smart enough to get into University. That same person was given unfounded breaks to get an education. It does not matter that same person is holding a PhD in that field of study. As that suppressed person you have to stand out just a little further because everything you achieve is scrutinized beyond the normal standard set for a person with privilege.
Our current government is saying they are open to listening to people about racism in every system in our society but some of those appointed officials like Brenda Lucki Commissioner of The RCMP say it doesn’t exist. How are people supposed to trust either government or law enforcement when they can not even agree on the basics. Listen to what the Prime Minister has to say.
