As human beings relationships are at the heart of everything we do it is our nature to build relationships. They help us feel secure and make part of something bigger as we joined together in groups. We are born into a family unit and we leverage people around us so we can find more relationships. Our greatest achievement as a species is not necessarily sending someone to the moon or getting a camera to Pluto. It is the simple fact that we created the team that built the rocket and the camera that transmitted images of Pluto or landed a man on the surface of the moon. A team is a series of relationships aimed at a goal. The first human team hunted for large animals to feed groups of humans.
Relationships create the interactions and tasks that enable us to achieve and this ability is the basis of our society, and how we do business. Business today is still creating relationships. Transactions are about building trust and value. Many business coaches talk about the “Know, Like and Trust factor” but it doesn’t go deep enough. In our social circles in order to build trust in someone we have to believe in them first. Believe that they are truthful, then believe that they are trustworthy as we build our interests at the heart. Lastly, that person we are dealing with has a purpose we can believe in and they aren’t just simply a money grubber. Money-grubbing disappears when the road gets rough, and those who serve stay through that long haul. You have to decide who you want to be. To people begin to find love and trust in you, the service and your brand. Building a strong relationship with those goes further than today’s project and sale. It leads to the first referrals of ideal clients and customers and those customers who serve who you serve, make your business fun and work enjoyable. Your business will become a community beacon for years to come and the community will take care of you for a lifetime with love and trust through all the relationships.
